St. David's Episcopal Church
Kennebunk, Maine

The Reverend Kristina M. Conley, Deacon

Kris Conley grew up in Elmira, NY and attended Grace Episcopal Church where she sang in various choirs. During her junior high school days, she volunteered in the church nursery. At the time she was confirmed in 1958 she felt a strong call to serve the church, but at that time opportunities for women were limited. With her love of children as her focus, she worked in preschools, daycare centers, and for the past eighteen years has been serving children with special needs from birth to age five here in southern Maine.

She met her husband, Gregg, while working at her father’s restaurant in Kennebunkport and they were married on January 28, 1969. Once Gregg’s service in the Navy was completed, they called Maine their home. Kris and Gregg have two grown children and presently have one granddaughter.

In the early 1990’s, the call to serve the poor in the name of Christ which Kris had heard many years earlier, became too loud to ignore. Kris entered the discernment process, followed by the Deacon Formation Program in the Diocese of Maine, and was ordained a Deacon on June 24, 2006, in the Cathedral Church of Saint Luke, in Portland, Maine.
